Home Updates: Master Bedroom

The best thing about moving into a new house is the opportunity to redecorate everything! When we decided to purchase this home, I saw so much potential & was so excited to be able to make it our own.

I’ve had Pinterest boards on Pinterest boards of dream home inspiration for years and couldn’t believe I was about to make this dream a reality! True - there is only so much you can do with a lived in house without making extensive renovations, but we were lucky that this home was mostly updated!

Since we just dropped a lot of savings on the down payment of the house, we obviously had to be mindful of our budget when purchasing decorative items and furniture. We received some very kind and generous housewarming gifts from our parents (they’re the actual best) which helped a lot!

One of the first updates we made after moving in was re-carpeting the entire upstairs floor and painting all of the bedrooms. Agreeing to put in new carpet was one of the promises Ben had to make before I agreed to purchase the home! The old carpet was ugly and stained and juuuust NO.

Here are the “before we moved in” photos of the master bedroom!

We purchased this carpet “Lady Bug” from Home Depot and had them install it as well. For $20 they will come out and measure the space and will then apply that amount towards your carpet purchase. They often run a deal for free installation for carpet picks priced $0.99/sq. ft. or more. Home Depot did a great job and were quick to get it done in about 3 hours.

We couldn’t be happier with our choice of color and style as it goes wonderfully with the greige paint we picked out from Sherwin Williams called “Agreeable Gray.” I love this color because it is gray with a beige undertone so it compliments both gray and brown tones. So versatile! We ended up painting our basement with this as well and it looks more beige in that lighting - but I will be sharing that at a later date!

When designing our master bedroom, I wanted to create a space that was simple, yet beautiful. Cozy and warm. A peaceful and restful escape at the end of a long day.

We splurged a little in this room, but in the end was so worth it! I searched for bedroom furniture for some time before making a decision, and ultimately ended up purchasing the Jennily bedroom set from Ashley Furniture. My inspiration for our bedroom was 100% Joanna Gaines, obviously & I’m so pleased with how it turned out! The room lets in a lot of natural light and feels so airy and bright.

I went with this buffalo plaid quilt from Macy’s (currently on sale under $80!) and kept the overall color scheme of the room gray & cream with a few earthy pieces added in such as wooden accents and greenery. I will link all the available items below!
